The power of plants

According to legend, edelweiss was born from a star that came down to earth to experience love. For defying the laws of the Kingdom of the Stars, it was transformed into a modest flower destined to live on the tops of remote summits. Native to Siberia, edelweiss then migrated toward Europe during the Quaternary ice age period. During the 19th century, it became the symbol of the Alps. The flower, found at altitudes of 1,500-3,000m, has pretty little yellow flower heads surrounded by downy white petals in a double star formation. This down protects the edelweiss from desiccation and ultraviolet radiation.
