<p><strong>The woman</strong><br />Dagmar Riedel-Breidenstein, a graduate sociologist has worked for several years as part of her professional activity, on sexual abuse of young girls and boys suffering without assistance. Her investment is also reinforced by meeting children coming from imigration. She is a woman filled with energy and desperate to find contacts to help those children. The risk is even more important when sexual abuse is between children, who are facing to become either as victims or as perpetrators. Other risk factors which revolt her : sexuality's tabuisation, non-questioning of adult's authority, experience of violence, ideologies advocated in many imigrant families, That is why she has been one of the co-founders of Strohhalm e.V.'s project in 1987. She has worked since 19 years in her association in collaboration with teachers, educators, parents to prevent such abuse.<br /><strong>Her goal: Try to change things from within.</strong></p><p><strong>Her fight</strong><br />HEROES works with these caring to engage themself to an equal life between men and women of all cultures and religions. The Project HEROES Berlin Neukölln is so far unique in Germany and is funded by the World Childhood Foundation. It offers collective groups for young children and organizes workshops throughout Berlin. Heroes works in two stages : they lead young men's groups to talk on topics such as gender equality, honor, human rights, and wish to make a difference in their daily lives and within society. After about nine months of training, these young men are awarded « Certificate of Heroes ». Once graduated, young men can initiate the second stage, as "Heroes-models "by intervening in schools, training centers and meeting places for young people.</p>
