The quality of our formulas reflects the superb quality of the plant ingredients we use. Traceability is key to ensuring that all botanicals are responsibly grown and ethically sourced with respect for biodiversity, people, and the planet.
40%
of all plants used in Clarins formulas were sourced from organic farms in 2019
Clarins is committed to sourcing and growing all new active plant ingredients from organic agriculture.

Responsible sourcing
Clarins is strengthening its responsible sourcing policy, which prioritizes best practices in farming, more local sourcing from France or Europe, favoring Fair Trade partnerships when ingredients come from countries with a low Human Development Index, full traceability for harvesting areas, and long-term contracts with our partners.

Domaine Clarins: Our innovative, open-air laboratory in the French Alps

Domaine Clarins:
• Founded in 2016
• Located near Annecy (Haute-Savoie region) in the French Alps
• 4,500 feet in altitude
• 18 plants being researched
• 4 extracts produced
Le Domaine Clarins epitomizes our responsible beauty approach
• An invaluable place for research—Clarins’ nearly 2,000 acre, living outdoor laboratory is situated at the perfect altitude, where native plants are cultivated with ethical and sustainable farming methods.
• On this protected land, we use traditional farming techniques and minimal technology to create the ideal conditions to develop the highest quality plant ingredients.
The state-of-the-art production facility is a prime example of permaculture in action where plants are grown according to the season as nature intended—a high-altitude environment where the soil is pollution-free, and organic farming practices are used.
This completely controlled farm-to-jar approach is why we can meet our top consumer priority for the best plant quality and traceability.
