The woman
In April 2000, Diane's life changed dramatically when she gave birth to her second child, Philippe. Philippe was born with a severe handicap – he was diagnosed with spastic quadriparesis and told he would never walk, talk, or be able to feed himself and that he would be dependent on others all his life. After the initial shock, Diane had to juggle her career aspirations and family responsibilities with taking care of her son, which involved many doctor appointments, operations, physiotherapy and ergo therapy treatments.

Her fight: « Centre de Répit Philou »
Diane invested her own savings into this project and thanks to donations from companies and foundations, the project became a reality. Her vision was simple: to provide a centre in Montreal that would welcome handicapped children from all over Quebec. Diane developed a continuous learning programme and also a free family psychological help programme for parents whose children attended the centre.

What about now?
Diane would like to open a new section at the Centre for 6 to12 year-old children. But this project requires refurbishing the Centre's premises and acquiring new equipment.
