The woman
Rose realised after the birth of her first child that once delivery was over, women often find themselves on their own to face up to the first challenges of motherhood. Although surrounded by all types of specialists during their pregnancy, when the time comes to take baby home, there's no one around to advise on the basics. This lies behind Rose's idea to provide families with support in managing the stress caused by the arrival of a first child.

Her fight: « Wellcome »
The concept: volunteer « angels » visit families to help new mums and sort out the problems of daily life. They take the baby out for walks so Mum can get some rest and play with brothers and sisters so that she can breastfeed in peace. They also do the shopping and minor household tasks. The idea is simple enough to be summed up in a few words: Exit midwife, enter Wellcome.

What about now?
The other side of Wellcome: for women who want to give help and support, the network offers a wonderfully simple and generous way of doing so. Today, 70 Wellcome teams are up and running throughout Germany.
